Master the Art of Designing and Implementing Effective Embedding Activities

A successful BCM programme is not simply a collection of validated documents. Documents are only half the story, while the other half is the development of capable individuals who can utilize plans and resources by putting them into practice to build organizational resilience.

Take the Embedding Business Continuity Training course to learn how to successfully embed Business Continuity with a collaborative approach across the organization. Embedding is a key part of the Business Continuity Management (BCM) Lifecycle, which provides a field-based approach to the complexities of working with a broad range of stakeholders.

Course objectives

By achieving this course, you will:

• learn the essential elements of embedding Business Continuity as part of the BCM Lifecycle
• engage in workshop discussions about organizational culture, competencies, managing a training and awareness programme
• study real-life examples of ways forward to effectively embed Business Continuity that exploits opportunities and minimizes risks

What you will learn

Embedding Business Continuity implies to raise awareness and encourage buy-in from interested parties, but it also to ensure that the required competencies and skill are in place. Based on the BCI Good Practice Guidelines, this 1-day course will provide you a practical approach to the complexities of working with a broad range of stakeholders.

Module 1 - Exploring the Importance of Organizational Culture: Understand what organizational culture is, how to change it with the top-down approach and the bottom-up approach, the key components for achieving buy-in and how to measure results.

Module 2 - Exploring Skills, Competences & Competency Framework: Explore concepts such as what the differences are between skills, competences and competency framework. You will also roll out a competency framework and set the scope of the competency.

Module 3 - Exploring Awareness, Learning and Development Programmes:
Learn how to use the competency framework, training delivery methods and other forms of training. Discuss the awareness delivery methods, the factors influencing a training programme and a training schedule. Evaluate various learning styles and how to analyze training needs. Conclude with an assessment of competencies, including the recording training competence.

Module 4 - Exploring How to Secure Support for BC Learning Events & Activities:
Practice elevator pitch and identify potential delivery platforms.

During this workshop, you will obtain documentation and you will apply the concepts. It will provide you with theoretical guidance and meaningful experience in dealing with a variety of incidents.

Who is this for?

The course is designed for all Business Continuity and resilience professionals who require in-depth knowledge on how to design and implement a Business Continuity embedding programme: 

  • professionals who need to build a new embedding programme
  • professionals who want to optimize their embedding programme


For the Embedding Business Continuity Training course, no specific prior knowledge is required, although:

  • having your CBCI (or equivalent certification) is recommended prior this course
  • minimum experience in an Incident response and communication crisis management role is helpful


All students will receive an official certificate of attendance directly from the BCI after they successfully completed this course.
