Your role: Manage the Full Accounting Cycle and Support PCI’s Growth

As a member of our team, you will manage the full accounting cycle for Premier Continuum and its various entities. You will help ensure the accuracy and reliability of our day-to-day financial operations, contribute to financial reporting, and support the continuous improvement of our accounting practices.

This is a varied, hands-on role encompassing day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, financial analysis, and cash flow monitoring.

Position overview

Reporting to the Senior Vice-President, you will oversee the daily accounting operations of Premier Continuum and its various entities. Your responsibilities will include managing accounts payable and receivable, billing, and payroll, while ensuring that financial data is accurate and deadlines are met.

You will also be responsible for month-end close and the preparation of financial statements. By analyzing results, monitoring cash flow, and contributing to budget forecasts, you will provide management with clear, meaningful financial information to support sound decision-making.

You will also play an important role in strengthening our accounting practices. You will help formalize procedures, enhance internal controls, and ensure data consistency across our systems, contributing to reliable processes that can support the company’s continued growth.

Responsibilities

Accounting Operations

  • Prepare and post accounting entries, ensuring the accuracy of financial data.
  • Manage accounts payable, including invoice validation, payments, and the filing of supporting documentation.
  • Prepare customer invoices, conduct the required follow-ups, and assist with the collection of outstanding accounts.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records and process payroll according to established schedules.
  • Document accounting procedures to promote consistency, standardization, and business continuity.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to the ongoing development of accounting processes and tools.

Financial close and reporting

  • Prepare month-end and period-end journal entries, including accruals, depreciation, and adjusting entries.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and review key accounts for accuracy and consistency.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and monitor intercompany transactions across the various entities.
  • Analyze financial results, trends, and significant variances.

Cash flow and compliance

  • Prepare and file all applicable Canadian sales tax returns.
  • Assist with cash flow monitoring and forecasting.
  • Help prepare year-end working papers in collaboration with the external accounting firm.
  • Reconcile accounting data with the company’s various systems.
  • Work with the management team to prepare budget forecasts and monitor expenses.
  • Apply established internal controls and flag any anomalies or significant variances.

Education and qualifications

Your expertise

  • You have completed post-secondary studies in accounting, such as a college diploma or a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a specialization in accounting, or have an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • You have at least three years of relevant accounting experience and a strong command of the full accounting cycle.
  • You have solid accounting knowledge and are familiar with Canadian accounting standards.
  • You have advanced Excel skills and are comfortable analyzing financial data.
  • You are fluent in both French and English, spoken and written, and can communicate effectively with clients, suppliers, and partners across Canada.
  • Experience with Sage 50, Nethris, or payroll processing is considered an asset.

Working conditions

  • Permanent, full-time position — 37.5 hours per week
  • Annual salary of $70,000 to $85,000, based on experience
  • Occasional work outside regular business hours may be required
